Marines estadounidenses adscritos a la Fuerza de Asalto Marítimo de la Fuerza de Combate Litoral 24 realizaron un ensayo de perfil completo de una operación de interdicción marítima a bordo del buque de transporte anfibio clase San Antonio USS San Antonio (LPD 17), que permanece anclado en el puerto de La Guaira.
El reporte fotográfico publicado por la 24.ª Unidad Expedicionaria de Marines muestra a los Marines de reconocimiento asegurando a detenidos simulados durante el ejercicio, además del despliegue de un helicóptero UH-1Y Venom, haciuendo labores reconocimiento desde la cubierta del buque durante la maniobra.
Las fotografías documentan además ejercicios de despeje de áreas y de la cubierta de inundación del buque, así como maniobras de descenso por rápel de los Marines desde la nave.

Según el reporte, las tropas estadounidenses están desplegadas en el área de responsabilidad del Comando Sur de EE.UU. en el marco de la Operación Southern Spear, dirigida por el Departamento de Guerra, como parte del plan para interrumpir el tráfico ilícito de drogas, disuadir a actores hostiles y proteger el territorio estadounidense.
